Hello, world! I’m Dax (read: rhymes with Max), a Sri Lankan American living in the concrete jungle where dreams are made of (read: NYC). I’m a mathematician working in cancer research, which is incredibly interesting and rewarding, but unfortunately doesn’t allow for much creativity! That’s why I express myself through the best way I know possible – fashion!
I like to dress in unexpected and unpredictable ways. Most of my outfits are work-friendly as I wear them to the office (believe it or not!), and almost of all of them are very budget-friendly as well. I’m in my 20s and I’m not yet at the stage where I feel ready to drop a month’s rent on a pair of shoes… but that’s okay! I want people to know that you don’t have to spend lots of money to look good. It’s all a matter of collecting the pieces that speak to you, from thrift stores and end-of-season sales, and constantly rethinking how to wear them.
One thing you should know about me is that I’m unapologetically nerdy. I am passionate about math, enough so that I got two degrees in it! Some of the pieces I wear have a subtle or obvious mathematical inspiration behind them; keep an eye out for my “math fashion” outfits… they happen to be my favorite!
Thank you for stopping by — go out there and Dare to be you!
